KING ABDULLAH ACADEMY
Herndon, VA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The King Abdullah Academy is a private K-12 school with pre-school day care that includes: 3 stories, science wet labs, music labs, full kitchen and cafeteria, performance theatre, fitness area, practice gyms and a full gymnasium with bleachers; Olympic size indoor pool and natatorium, outdoor stadium with track, and soccer field. A lighting control and building management system was designed for control of energy usage.


GEORGE BLAUROCK STUDENT RECREATION CENTER
Truett McConnell College – Cleveland, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The George Blaurock Student Recreation Center is a 2-story, 73,000 SF building featuring: a fitness center and aerobics, 3 court competition basketball court with pullout bleachers, President’s suite, and media booth, recreation basketball court, 2 Racquetball courts, indoor swimming pool, locker rooms, small laundry, food vendor, lobby lounges, offices, and 3 surface parking lots.


CENTRAL ENERGY PLANT
Nova Southeast University – Fort Lauderdale, FL

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Central Energy Plant consists of the design of 5 (2,500 ton) parallel connected centrifugal water chillers. The chilled water provided by the plant is supplied to the various buildings on the system by variable speed secondary pumping systems located within the various buildings. The ice storage tank has an ultimate capacity of 76,800 ton hours. Electric service is received from FP&L at 13,200 volts, grounded wye. 3 double ended, gas insulated (GIS) switchgear, in a main-tie-main configuration, serve the project. Each service has 2 400 amp breakers serving the loop feeders and one 500 amp breaker served from the paralleling switchgear. Each main breaker and this 500 amp paralleling breaker operate as a transfer breaker pair and, with metering and interlocks, provide the 100ms transfer per FP&L utility requirements.


CENTER FOR COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH
Nova Southeast University – Fort Lauderdale, FL

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Center for Collaborative Research building is a 6-story building comprised of 60% wet lab and 40% office; 100% outside air to lab spaces; central gas hot water and steam distribution systems; central compressed air, gas and vacuum distribution system, electrical service at 13.2 KV with redundant unit substations providing power. Also, the CCR building contains the central computer room for the campus, with dual redundant 1.4 MW UPS systems, each served from one of the unit substations.


ROSS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Portsmouth, Commonwealth of Dominica

MEP/FP Engineering and Technical Systems Design Services were provided for the Ross University School of Medicine. The project consists of 2 tennis courts, one basketball court, and 3,000 SF of parking lot to be located near the CAC building, Campus Center and Campus Entry landscape lighting, Day Care/Prep School landscape lighting, facilities Compound landscape lighting, new Parking lot by Facilities Compound, existing Parking Lot reconfiguration per master plan, a Water Cistern for site, and new road lighting.


ROSS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF VETERINARY MEDICINE
St. Kitts, Federation of St. Christopher & Nevis, The Leeward Islands, The Lesser Antilles

Electrical Engineering Design Services and an Energy Study were provided to OBMI for the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. The project consists of roadway lighting for the Main Campus Drive from the Student Union to the existing guardhouse, from the Main Campus Road to the sewage lift station, and from the sewage lift station to the new academic buildings. The total length of road to be lighted is 2,900 feet, and area lighting for the new student parking area located on the eastern portion of the campus. The area of the parking lot is 145,000 SF.

The preparation of an Energy Study for the Ross University building in St. Kitts included: Preliminary Investigation and Data Collection, Input Deck for Modeling, Energy Modeling, Energy Analysis and Comparisons, and a Report of our findings.


SCHELLER COLLEGE OF BUSINESS BUILDING
Georgia Institute of Technology – Atlanta, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided for the renovation of the Georgia Institute of Technology Scheller College of Business Building. The renovation to the retail area included a new technology retail outlet. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning was reworked for the high concentration of technology. Electrical was increased to power the additional technology. A new repair center was added with HVAC and electrical revisions.


MASON CIVIL ENGINEERING BUILDING
Georgia Institute of Technology – Atlanta, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided for the renovation of the Georgia Institute of Technology Mason Civil Engineering Building. The renovation included: 20,000 SF renovation with 3 new labs (geosystems, wave geomedia, and hydrology). The construction cost for this Board of Regents project is estimated at $1.5 million.


PEARL CITY HIGH SCHOOL
Pearl, MS

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Pearl City High School is a 50 acre campus features a 156,000 SF, 1,200 student high school, a 1,500-seat gymnasium, a 400-seat theater, multi-purpose physical education fields, practice fields, a bus parking lot, staff and student parking for 500 cars, and a 6,000-seat football stadium with surrounding track.


STUDENT CENTER
Savannah College of Art & Design – Savannah, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Student Center is a converted 28,834 SF Congregation B’nai B’rith Synagogue, built in 1909 by Hyman Witcover. This 4-story, exotic revival building includes keyhole arches defining the windows, arabesque patterns in the window glass, tracery on the entrance elevation, intricate carved and corbelled detail along the top of the building, and Moorish-style domes on the west facade corners. The building is used for Student Involvement, Service Opportunities for Students, United Student Forum, Inter-Club Council, Student Activities Council, and the Student Center Director’s offices.


RIGGS-VIRDEN HALL DORMITORY AND ALLEN-DUKES-WHITAKER HALL DORMITORY
Hinds Community College – Raymond, MS

MEP/FP Engineering and Technical Systems Design Services were provided for the Riggs-Virden Hall Dormitory and Allen-Dukes-Whitaker Hall Dormitory. The project consisted of one 98 room men’s dormitory unit (Riggs-Virden Hall), and one 62 room women’s dormitory unit (Allen-Dukes-Whitaker Hall), meeting rooms, study rooms, lobbies, and laundry areas.


CULINARY SCHOOL BUILDING
HL Stoutt Community College – Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The HL Stoutt Community College Culinary School includes the complete design of separate classroom and restaurant buildings. Classroom space consisted of a 2-story structure, approximately 6,250 SF, and provisions were made for an additional third story for future expansion. The restaurant consisted of a teaching kitchen and dining area, approximately 2,450 SF. Design included combined grease retention and generator service for both structures to minimize initial capital cost, multiple grease hoods for classrooms and kitchen, and variable refrigerant system to serve public spaces and lectures rooms.


GEORGIA PERIMETER COLLEGE – DUNWOODY CAMPUS
Dunwoody, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Dunwoody Campus of the Georgia Perimeter College (formerly the North Campus) includes engineering design for classrooms, office and laboratory space. The classroom space constitutes 45% of the development and has various configurations and sizes of classroom space to support a variety of curricula.


GEORGIA PERIMETER COLLEGE – DECATUR CAMPUS
Decatur, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Dekalb Campus of the Georgia Perimeter College (formerly Dekalb College North Campus) included engineering design for classrooms, office and laboratory space to support the instructional needs and goals at the school. The classroom space constitutes 45% of the project and has various configurations and sizes of classroom space to support a variety of curricula.


R. HOWARD DOBBS CENTER
Emory University – Decatur, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided for the renovation and expansion of the R. Howard Dobbs Center. The R. Howard Dobbs Center is a 50-year-old Alumni Memorial University Center. The renovation included 60,000 SF with a film theater and a legitimate theater. The expansion included a 91,400 SF annex adding facilities for meeting, food service, dining, a ballroom, post office, bookstore, and lounge.


GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY OFF-CAMPUS STUDENT HOUSING VILLAGE
Atlanta, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Georgia State University Off-Campus Student Housing Village houses 2,000 beds within 650 apartment-style units with full kitchens. Designed for single occupancy, units range in size from 660 to 1,073 SF. There is 18,300 SF of retail space and a parking deck located below the project containing approximately 1,000 parking spaces.


CAMILLE OLIVIA HANKS COSBY ACADEMIC CENTER
Spelman University – Atlanta, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby Academic Center houses the Departments of History, English, Religion & Philosophy, and Modern Foreign Language. The center also has a museum, the College Archives, an auditorium, the writing center, the Women’s Research and Resource Center, reading rooms and a foreign language lab.


CLAIRBORNE HIGH SCHOOL
Port Gibson, MS

MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided. The Clairborne High School included engineering for the 63.3 acre site development for the campus of the Clairborne High School with vocational training area, gymnasium, and field house. Design included access roads, parking, storm drainage, utility systems and recreation facilities.


GAILLARD HALL DORMITORY
University of Northern Georgia – Dahlonega, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided to the Board of Regents for the renovation of the Gaillard Hall Dormitory. The renovation to the Military Village dormitory included design of new HVAC system for entire Hall including: pre insulated chilled water distribution system, bedroom vertical exposed fan coil units and bathroom ventilation. Each room holds 2 Cadets. The rooms are carpeted with modern furniture, internet ready and have cable for TV. Included in each Cadet room is a desk, bed, storage space and closet for each occupant. Each room is connected to a bathroom that 2 rooms and 4 Cadets share. Each bathroom has a toilet, 2 showers, and 2 lavatories.


LEWIS HALL DORMITORY
University of Northern Georgia – Dahlonega, GA

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided to the Board of Regents for the renovation of the Lewis Hall Dormitory. Lewis Hall is a female residence hall with 117 rooms for up to 209. The renovation to the dormitory included design of new HVAC system for entire Hall including: pre insulated chilled water distribution system, bedroom vertical exposed fan coil units and bathroom ventilation. The rooms are carpeted with modern furniture, and includes local telephone service, basic cable, network access, and a central lounge with smaller lounges on each floor, coin-operated laundry facilities, full kitchen area, computer lab, and community bathrooms on each hall.
