CRIMINAL JUSTICE

UNITED STATES PENITENTIARY, ATLANTA
Atlanta, GA


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering and Technology Infrastructure Systems Design Services were provided for the renovation of the United States Penitentiary, Atlanta. The Atlanta United States Penitentiary renovation included a 220,000 SF facility including: segregation, control unit, holdover unit, administrative space, 100-bed medical facility, 426 more bed spaces, locking system, intercom, closed circuit TV, fire alarm, duress system, watch tour, access road, parking, sally port, paving, grading and utilities.

GEORGIA STATE PRISON
Reidsville, GA


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided for the renovation and new design of the Georgia State Prison in Reidsville, Georgia. The renovation included ten additions to the existing 300,000 SF facility to house new toilet facilities. Installed within a maximum security unit, complete access for maintenance was provided without contact with the inmates. Security hardware and fixtures were used extensively.

The new design work done for the Georgia State Prison included a 100,000 SF food processing facility complete with raw products storage and handling, automated food processing design and layout and finished product storage. The facility allowed the Georgia State Prison system to can and process its own foodstuffs grown by the inmates.

EASTERLING CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
Clio, AL


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided. The Easterling Correctional Facility is a 237,000 SF, 676-bed (expandable to 804) facility with a 65 acre site. Work included site analysis and development, roads, parking, utilities, paving, grading and drainage. A 250,000 gallon water storage tank was designed for the development.

FRANKLIN COUNTY DETENTION CENTER
Carnesville, GA


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided. The Franklin County Detention Center is a 19,000 SF, 73 bed facility. Space is provided for the administrative offices of the Sheriff’s Department, a medical ward, recreation areas, kitchen, laundry, legal library and public visitation area. The building was designed on the “podular” concept to provide excellent sight line from staff to inmate and staff to staff.

CENTRAL STATE PRISON
Macon, GA


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided. The Central State Prison is a 300,000 SF, full correctional center which totals 8 buildings and 300 beds. Systems consisted of: central energy plant with 500 tons of refrigeration, 2 200 horsepower boilers and underground distribution of hot and chilled water, and air volume air system and support buildings were handled with single and by pass multi zone systems.

BALDWIN STATE PRISON
Hardwick, GA


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided for the addition to the Baldwin State Prison. The Baldwin State Prison is a women’s facility and the addition added 60,000 SF and a 100-bed housing unit and a 50-bed medical facility. Site utility and main central plant were designed to allow for two future housing buildings.

MEP/FP Engineering Design Services were also provided for a 4,500 SF expansion of the Dining Hall and Warehouse.

GEORGIA PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING CENTER (GPSTC) BURRUSS CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
Forsyth, GA


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided. The Burruss Correctional Training Facility at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center features a 500-bed inmate facility and 50-bed jail component. The institution is used to train the state’s correctional officers.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY JAIL
Brewton, AL


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering and Technical Systems Design Services were provided. The Escambia County Jail is a 80-bed, 30,000 SF, minimum security facility. The project included: hardware, glass/glazing, security metal, detention equip/furnishings and fencing. Electronics included: locking, intercom, CCTV, fire alarm, duress system and watch unit. Watch unit has a room with locking control panels and security.

METRO REGIONAL YOUTH DETENTION CENTER
Atlanta, GA


MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Metro Regional Youth Detention Center is a 150 bed, 140,000 SF maximum security facility.

BELMONT COUNTY CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTE
St. Clairsville, OH


MEP/FP Engineering and Technical Systems Design Services were provided. The Belmont County Correctional Institute is a 19 acre, 54,000 SF county jail with 88 beds. Our scope of work included the consultation for the selection of security items, glass and glazing, security hollow metal, and detention equipment and furnishings. Security electronics were provided including the locking system, intercommunication system, CCTV, fire alarm system, duress system and watch tour system.

RUSSELL COUNTY JAIL
Phenix City, AL


MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. The Russell County Jail is 46,000 SF with 128 beds and 7,000 SF of office space for the sheriff’s department and includes security items, glass and glazing, security hollow metal and detention equipment/furnishings, the locking system, intercommunication system, closed-circuit television (CCTV), fire alarm system, and duress system and watch tour system.

MISSISSIPPI STATE PENITENTIARY
Parchman, MS


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided. The Mississippi State Penitentiary includes 2 prisons each including a 280,000 SF, 1,000-bed maximum security facility on a 100 acre site. Services included roads, parking lots, utilities, grading and drainage.

ROBESON COUNTY JAIL
Lumberton, NC


MEP/FP Engineering and Technical Systems Design Services were provided. The Robeson County Jail is a 96,000 SF detention facility with 192 beds (expandable to 300) and consultation for the selection of security items, including hardware, glass and glazing, security hollow metal, detention equipment/furnishings, fencing, the locking system, intercommunication system, CCTV, fire alarm system, duress system and watch tour system.

BEAUFORT COUNTY DETENTION CENTER
Beaufort, SC


MEP/FP Engineering and Technical Systems Design Services were provided. The Beaufort County Detention Center is an 82,000 SF facility that includes a cafeteria, administrative areas, and 190 beds. Security items include glass and glazing, security hollow metal, detention equipment/furnishings and fencing, locking system, intercommunication system, CCTV, fire alarm, duress and watch tour system.

DOUGHERTY COUNTY JAIL
Albany, GA


MEP/FP Engineering and Technical System Design Services were provided. The Dougherty County Jail is a 624-bed, 350,000 SF facility. The jail has capabilities to house 800 inmates and utilizes DIRECT supervision to the trustee/pretrial inmates, and INDIRECT supervision to the maximum security/protective custody. Complete separation of the public from the inmates is maintained.

TELFAIR STATE PRISON
Helena, GA


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided. The Telfair State Prison is a 268,000 SF, 180 acre site design. Utilizing the INDIRECT supervision approach, each housing unit contains an enclosed room that controls all of the cell doors. The site included lighting, roads, parking lots, utilities, paving, grading and drainage, a 250,000 gallon water storage tank, and a sanitary sewer lift station.

FEDERAL WORK CAMPS

MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided for Federal Work Camps throughout the country. Each was a 67,000 SF, 150 inmate minimum security facility. Each facility was site adapted. Site development included grading, paving, roads, parking lots and utilities.

The Polk County Jail is a 34,100 SF detention facility with 68 cells, 100 beds, consultation for the selection of security items, including glass and glazing, security hollow metal and detention equipment/furnishings, locking system, intercommunication system, CCTV, fire alarm system, duress system and watch tour system.

ARRENDALE STATE PRISON
Alto, GA


MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided for the renovation of the Arrendale State Prison Correctional Facility. The Arrendale State Prison renovation included 100,000 SF of cell blocks (750 beds), toilets, central plant and boiler addition.

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION
Leakesville, MS


MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided. The South Mississippi Correctional Institution project included site analysis, site development and wastewater treatment with land application for this 240 acre facility. Phase I was an 180,000 SF, 680-bed facility. Phase II included an additional 1,360 beds.
