MARINE CORPS SUPPORT FACILITY (MARRESFOR)
MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided to the US Marine Corps for the renovation of the Marine Corps (Marresfor) Support Facility. The renovation of the Marine Corps (Marresfor) Support Facility included 200,000 SF of a 500,000 SF facility. The renovations spanned 4 of the 6 floors in the building encompassing a new central chilled water and electrical plant. In addition, complete design of air handling systems, incorporating IAQ standards, and electrical distribution of the 200,000 SF area was provided.

MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided. This project totally gutted an existing F-15 hangar and added support space. The hangar is designed to perform maintenance on six F-15’s at the same time. All electrical and HVAC systems were demolished and replaced. An AFFF fire suppression system was added. The main hangar doors were refurbished. The two-story addition included offices, support spaces, and a four position F-18 fighter hangar. Estimated construction cost is $6.5 million.

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided for the Aircraft Painting Facility. The Aircraft Painting Facility includes temperature/humidity controls ventilating at 550,000-CFM, a water wall filtration system with centrifugal spark proof fans, high-pressure steam absorption chilled water generator, controls including computerized monitoring system and overall facility expansion.
Services were also provided for the C-141 Corrosion Control Facility. The facility created a controlled environment for the painting of C-141 aircrafts. Design included temperature/humidity controls, ventilation at a rate of 550,000-cfm to maintain proper velocity to allow paint overspray to be carried to filter system, exhaust and filter system, refrigeration through a high-pressure steam absorption chilled water generator, control system to the base computerized monitory system.

The Aviation Support Facility includes four helicopter hot-point refueling control station and aprons, 600 feet of taxiways and 12,000 SF of apron area, a 260,000 gallon fuel storage farm, pumped dispensing facility for jet fuel and AVGAS, two 4,000 SF support buildings, hydrant fueling system, and site grading/drainage. The Fort Bragg Vehicle Maintenance Shop is a 38,000 SF, 20 acre facility that includes site development, utilities, 4 lane highway, fuel storage, vehicle hardstand, crypto vault and security installation.

The facility is spread over a 60 acres site and is comprised of over 29 buildings. CACTF is designed to support heavy and light infantry, armor, artillery, and aviation positioning and maneuver.

The Tactical Equipment Shop and Facilities buildings at Hunter Army Air Field is a 10,347 SF facility including 4 large bays with overhead exhaust, storage and dispensing of automotive fuel, an 8,000-gallon diesel fuel storage tank, a 2,000-gallon leaded gasoline fuel storage tank, a waste oil dumping station, wash racks, outdoor service and oil hoses, maintenance pads through an oil water separator, utilities, communications, paving and fencing.

MEP/FP Engineering Services were provided. Our scope at Pope Air Force Base included: a new hydrant fueling system. The design included two 10,000 BBL operating tanks, 6,000 feet of 18″ steel fuel piping, three 1,200 GPM pumps, pump shelter, and operations building including a system of automatic and emergency controls, surge protection, cathodic protection, estimating, and electrical designs.

The Fuel Maintenance Systems Hangar includes 25,000 SF for KC-135 tanker, repair for fuel cells, aircraft washing, AFFF systems, ground storage tank, fire pump house, and 7,000 square yards of apron concrete paving.

MP/FP Engineering Services were provided for the Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility (TEMF) buildings at Elgin Air Force Base. The Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility (TEMF) buildings at Elgin Air Force Base scope included providing high temperature heating, compressed air and carbon monoxide exhaust for the motor vehicle maintenance facility. Site responsibilities included sanitary sewer, waste fuel storage, diesel and gasoline dispensing systems, oil water separator and underground, high temperature hot water distribution.

Construction costs totaled $11.1 million. Scope included engine shops, administrative areas, maintenance shops, apron additions, 400 Hertz, flight simulator, and non-destructive testing facility.

MEP/FP and Civil Engineering Services were provided to the US Air Force for the renovations to Homestead Air Force Base. The renovations to Homestead Air Force Base included a 18,200 SF hangar, with: a fire protection system, 5 tons of AC, maintenance bays for 2 MH-60 helicopters, office support space for 40 personnel, shop space, training area, administration, storage and rest rooms and design of paving to connect the hangar with the flight line.

Energy Study and Energy Engineering Analysis Services were provided. TEC participated in a program for 148 buildings (3,729,000 SF) for this military group in Panama. The program produced a total of 47 study areas, of which 20 were not recommended for further consideration. Thirteen energy conservation opportunities reduced energy by 14% at a cost of $3,200,000. Eleven areas indicated an average simple payback of 0.7 years.
